AT LAST, for all the people who wanted a map to simple techniques
of stash-busting I've honed in the past decade...The Busy Handcrafter's Stash-Based Idea Booklet Series is
on its way. In addition to knitwoven/needlefelted mini-tapestries, and the simple crochet chain stitch technique-in-a-grid
that I have used for tapestry color studies and planning, I have added guides for some of the great tools from the woodworked-fiberloving
tools made by Diane Soper, at Sistermaide products. I will be bringing and demonstrating some of these techniques at
markets this summer (see Show page for locations).
The
point of any of these idea booklets is to encourage experimentation with a fiber stash already in your reach, whether as a
beginner or a pioneering explorer. Fiber is the most accessible and natural creative material I've ever found,
and the first to be added to my childhood reach for mastery. Unlike some creative endeavors, there's not much you can
do wrong when you're a beginner, and almost no mistake will cost more than a few ounces of yarn, with the projects in this
series. Risk-free exploration, at any age, is a gift that can be enjoyed alone or shared with anyone of any age.
I designed all of these projects with the hope of calling in Peace on Earth, one stitch at a time.
The Stash-based Idea Booklets are meant to bring an "aha"
moment into your life as soon as you make room for it, even if you're a complete beginner. Follow the inspiration, and
what you need will follow, and maybe even catch up with you.
